""Koni FSDCorvette Shocks - "KONI has recently introduced its new Frequency Selective Damping (FSD) shock absorber at an international Press event at the famous Zandvoort race track in Holland. According to the company, the FSD is the first shock absorber to provide superior road-holding without compromising comfort. KONI FSD addresses the trade-off in conventional suspension systems whereby soft suspension is associated with poor steering response, excessive pitch and roll and problems dealing with speed bumps, while firm suspension can lead to a harsh ride and reduced grip on poor road surfaces.

How does FSD work? .00 In standard shock absorbers, the main damping characteristic is defined by the oil flow going through the piston assembly In the patented FSD system 2. KONI has added a special valve which controls an oil flow parallel to the one going through the piston 3. The FSD feature closes this parallel oil flow, giving a rise in damping force almost linear to the time that the piston is moving in one direction. Put simply, the FSD feature is a hydraulic amplifier that delays the build up of pressure. It could also be described as an extra tuning option, created in order to get the best possible combination of handling and comfort. Since it is an integrated part of the hydraulic valve system inside the damper, no additional cables, sensors, or electronics are needed to operate an FSD damper.

According to KONI, FSD is the simplest, most economical way to significantly improve the ride and driving characteristics of every car. FSD provides a smart suspension system which adjusts automatically to road conditions as well as driving style."

The C5/Z06 and C6/Z06 are amazing accomplishments and with these two generations came a process of bending and shaping steel by using water pressure. This process known as hydro-forming made the C5/Z06, C6/Z06 frames the strongest and most flex free Corvettes ever to date. There is one area however that was in need of improvement to further stiffen the frame and to decrease the amount of torsional flex that was present. In the process of designing this product, we were also able to combat the other problem, heat!!

The CFS-02B is fully computer designed and CNC machined to our exact specifications. The panel consists of aircraft grade 6061- T6 aluminum @ 3/8 thick. With this material, we have achieved an increase in torsional rigidity of over 1,800 percent compared to the stock panel yet weighs just 6 lbs more!! To address the issue of heat, we applied a high temperature ceramic coating on BOTH sides of the panel to help resist heat and to keep the interior of the vehicle cooler. We have measured a decrease in the interior temperature on the center tunnel of over 40 degrees Fahrenheit compared to the stock panel. This in turn makes for a much cooler interior reducing the load on your air conditioner and allowing you to have more horsepower on tap and increased driver comfort on those hot summer days and strenuous track events!

Installation is easy and thanks to the precision of this part, bolts right into place perfectly without any modifications necessary. This part truly is a plug and play piece that offers the C5 increased stiffness and drastically reduces the heat problem once and for all. USES STOCK BOLTS FOR QUICK AND EASY INSTALLATION!

""Vararam C6 Snake Charmer Cold Air Intake Kit - "After 1 full year of R&D the all new C-6 Snake charmer ram air induction kit is finally ready for the street. The snake charmer is a heavy development of the original C-5 B2 unit. We used information gathered from 12 special B2 Race units that we constructed for racing only, these units featured many different internal aerodynamic packages and filter combinations, to maximize peak CFM and time to peak manifold pressure. We have emphasized too many customers and racing teams that it?s not just peak pressure but the time to peak manifold pressure that we look at, this occurs at shift recovery, down in the meat of the power curve. This helps for shooting off of corners, general drivability and overall peak performance, this shows up in the form of Torque& Lots of it. Like all VR units the snake charmer was not designed for dynoing (pulling air) it was designed for ramming as such the aero package and shape of the unit are designed around this. The philosophy is simple; design for the most efficient aero package possible at all speeds ranging from 10mph- 180mph. The snake charmer is over 108%-123% efficient depending on the filter used.

The Filter: The filter for this unit was custom designed in house and produced by a subcontractor for Donaldson. It is a pleated unit that is washable and reusable, but that is where all similarities end, the filter features deeper pleats and more pleats per inch than other filters and the peaks and valleys have been opened to further increase flow capacity per sq inch. The end result is a very compact high flow filter that will out flow K&N?s of similar dimension by over 30% while actually giving better air filtration, you simply have more filter area that is effective area not dead space. We used the latest in fluid dynamic software to check the flow path of the snake charmer; we say check because the snake charmer was originally designed by hand by company president Patrick Ledford. The flow is so well balanced into the mass airflow meter that at full speed 180mph+ the airflow is within 1mph across the entire circumference of the entrance leading into the air meter, the factory tube isn?t that good!

Rainwater will not affect this unit, nor will down pours, you will have to submerse the nose of the car.

Construction: The unit is formed using two construction processes, the upper is roto molded to ensure a seamless internal aero package leading into the air meter. The second, the lower scoop is vacuum formed, this has been done to allow us to alter the scoop and its aero-packages to suit specific applications, giving us more flexibility and performance in street or racing use. This ensures maximum performance at all times.

How much power will you get? So now the how much power will you get question- standing on a dyno without using any special programming you should expect 10-15hp from any cold air kit,but once moving the VR will put all the lost MAP pressure back into the plenum yielding another 17hp by 60mph 19-20by 90-100mph and the way we rate our kits is through a ? mile Your total power through a ? mile is about another 22hp plus the dyno hp of 10-15hp,so, on the low side, 32 Rear wheel hp, high side 37 Rear wheel hp. That?s 39- 42hp at the fly wheel through a ? mile. This power shows up in the testing performance of the unit where we see gains of the fallowing,.

3.5 -4 tenths off the ? mile +3.5-4mph+ added to the ? mile trap speeds +7-10MPH to the cars top speed

That is serious performance considering that is right out of the box, we will continue development for further performance, but we have maximized the factory programming so more may be possible with custom tuning and we are working with tuners and racing teams now on such programs, so look for these in the future with a VR program or upgrading to a VR programmer if you already own one such a programmer."
